About me
StratoArt is the art of Dale Jackson.
Thoughts
I Have been drawing ever since I could remember. I am mostly self-taught with professional training of some of the programs I work with. I am mostly a digital artist, but I also traditionally draw with pencil/pen, and paint with acrylics and oils.
I started in the world of digital art in the mid 1980′s with the Commodore 64. That was my first time being exposed to the home computer as well as painting with a computer. In those days, I was painting in only 4 colors, and printing out on a Okadata color ribbon printer, ahh nostalgia!
Today, digital art is vastly more sophisticated. I remember as a youth, writing a term paper on graphic art on the computer, I still have the paper. I never knew then, that I would actually be enveloped in the digital art medium as a career, though at the time I hoped I would.
In the art I do today, I lean toward photorealism rather than abstract. Sometimes it’s hard for me to think too abstractly. But every once and a while, I’ll dabble in impressionist pieces.
I love visual effects or special effects VFX in science fiction movies. I grew up with Star Wars, Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica classic, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Buck Rogers, Tron, Raiders of the Lost Ark. Much of my style of art has been influenced by those classics. I also love to build scale models. It’s been a passion of mine since I was a young boy. I like to build starships and aircraft mostly.
Service in the USAF
I served in the USAF for four years as a flying crew chief on KC-135R and T model aircraft. Though I loved working on that great Boeing aircraft, I did miss being away from family. I was privileged to paint squadron pride nose art on five leading KC-135 aircraft at Fairchild AFB. This was in 1999. One of which was the General’s bird, the “City of Spokane” my art is still flying on the aircraft. I earned the Air Force Achievement medal for that endeavour. After an honorable discharge from the USAF, I was commissioned to do a logo that commemorated the memorial of the 9/11 tragedy with the art entitled, “Lest We Forget” on an F-15 based at Klamath Falls, OR. This aircraft is a West Coast Demonstration aircraft.
Current Career
Currently I am Art Director at Living Waters Publications. It is a dream and honor to work with such dedicated Christians who love the Lord and are passionate with proclamation of the clear Gospel of Christ.

Bank of America award for excellence in Art. First Place for a piece I did for the Veteran of Foreign Wars. USAF Achievement Medal 1999 for artwork I painted on KC-135R and T model aircraft.
